August 19th, 2010 - Kindergarten!

Here she is - my big school girl!!!! She was so excited to go to kindergarten, and, to my surprise, instead of being heart-brokenly sad, I was completely excited, as well! The color of the day was 'red' and I'm happy to report - she stayed on green all day!

Sewing

I forgot how much I like to sew. I got a new sewing machine for my birthday (thanks Mom and Dad!) and I've been busy! I've finished a couple of dresses for Keira. She didn't like them at first. Isn't 3 years old a little young to think that homemade things are lame? Haha :) Anyway, she came around and is now very proud of the Strawberry Shortcake dress I just finished for her. She says I made it "with a heart to love tocheddar."

Ben Gay and powdered sugar

When K got up this morning, one of the first things she asked me was, "Mama, where is a bengay?" I said, "a Ben Gay?" She said, "Yes, I want to eat one, with powdered sugar on it. I fink they are on Burbon Street wif the noisy restaurants." I got such a laugh out of that :)

Tuesday

Tuesdays are one of my favorite days of the week. I always look forward to going to writing group. We are the Yetis. The name came about last year (2007) when we first formed our group and had a NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month www.nanowrimo.org) kick-off party. We were wrapping things up and looking through the goody bags the ML's had given each of us containing little writing whatsits, pencils, pens, inspirational things, etc. A couple of the fuzzy pencil toppers looked like yetis. There was also some leopard print tape, and of course, me being me, cut little triangles out of the tape and made the smaller of the two a bikini. E jumped on the crazy train and, I don't know, made a chain or something for the bigger one. They became our group's mascots. I wish we still had the actual pictures. I'll do my best to illustrate...

What a morning :/

I have been excited to take my daughter to this particular storytime for a while now. It's in a town I'm not familiar with, but it's a small one, so I thought no problem trying to find the library. Well, we got ready, left, and got to the town. First, I drove (and drove and drove) until I passed the golf course. Ok, time to turn back around and go the other way.I went back and found the old part of the downtown. Then I drove..and drove..and passed a farm. Then from the back seat I hear *cough cough blech.* So, I pull over and clean her up the best I can. Then when we got back on the road I hear a pathetic, pleading, wibwawy mama, wibwawy. I felt so bad :( I wound up just coming back home.
